Ads

Ads are individual pieces of content designed to bring attention and excitement to your marketing efforts. They can be standalone or connected to a Campaign. When connected to a campaign, OptiPub tracks send counts, orders, and revenue per ad.

Ads can be placed in Order Pages and Promos using the content editor's Ad block under the OptiPub category.

Create an Ad

  1. Navigate to Marketing > Ads.
  2. Click Create.
  3. Fill in the fields:
FieldRequiredDescription
ActiveYesWhether the ad is visible. Defaults to on.
NameYesA descriptive name for the ad.
PublicationYesThe publication this ad belongs to.
CategoryYesSelect from categories defined in Admin > Settings > Ad Categories. At least one must exist.
AuthorYesThe copywriter responsible for this ad.
TagNoFor organization and filtering.
  1. Optionally, select a Campaign to link the ad. See Link an Ad to a Campaign below.
  2. Build the ad Content using the rich text editor.

If the ad is linked to a campaign, the content must include the correct link macro for the selected offer type. The required macro is displayed below the content editor once a campaign is configured. See Campaign link macros for details.

  1. Click Save.

Link an Ad to a Campaign

Linking an ad to a Campaign creates an effort that tracks engagement and revenue statistics for that ad.

  1. In the ad form, select a Campaign.
  2. Once a campaign is selected, additional fields appear:
FieldRequiredDescription
PartnerYesThe Partner associated with this effort.
TypeYesThe offer type β€” determines what the ad links to.
  1. Choose a Type and fill in the fields that appear:
TypeRequired fieldsVisitor flow
ExternalExternal URLRedirects to an external website.
AdvertAdvertorial, Promo, Order PageVisitor sees an advertorial (lift letter), then a promo, then the order page.
PromoPromo, Order PageVisitor sees a Promo, then the Order Page.
Order PageOrder PageVisitor goes directly to an Order Page.
  1. Optionally, configure a Secondary Offer Promo and Secondary Offer Order Page for exit-intent behavior.

You cannot save an active ad with an inactive campaign. Either activate the campaign first or deactivate the ad.

Campaign Link Macros

When an ad is linked to a campaign, the content must include a macro that resolves to the correct landing page URL at send time. The required macro depends on the selected offer type:

Offer typeRequired macro
External{$sys_division.links.external}
Advert{$sys_division.links.advertorial}
Promo{$sys_division.links.promo}
Order Page{$sys_division.links.order_page}

If the required macro is missing from the content, the form will display a validation error and prevent saving.

Place an Ad in Content

Ads can be embedded in Order Pages, Promos, and other landing pages via the content editor.

  1. Open a landing page in the content editor.
  2. From the OptiPub block category, drag an Ad block onto the canvas.
  3. Click the block to open the OptiPub Ads modal.
  4. Select an active ad from the list, then choose the effort to associate with it.
  5. Click Save. The ad content is rendered inline and a macro (e.g. {$ad_123_456}) is inserted behind the scenes.

At send time, OptiPub replaces the macro with the full ad HTML and tracks the send.

View Ad Statistics

When viewing an ad, a Stats tab displays performance metrics including:

  • Sends β€” total number of times the ad was sent.
  • Orders and Revenue β€” conversions attributed to the ad.
  • Average Position β€” mean placement position across sends.
  • Breakdowns by send, position, and destination displayed as charts and tables.

Statistics are updated automatically every five minutes.

Copy an Ad

To duplicate an existing ad, open the ad and click Copy. This creates a new ad prefilled with the original's fields and content, which you can modify before saving.

Create an Ad from a Campaign

You can also create ads directly from a campaign's Ads tab:

  1. Navigate to Marketing > Campaigns and open the campaign.
  2. Go to the Ads tab and click Create Ad.
  3. The ad form opens with the Name, Publication, and Campaign prefilled from the campaign.
