Understanding Our Tracking System
Introduction
OptiPub uses an extensive tracking system to associate users' actions across your digital properties. This information is compiled and shown to you throughout our reporting tools within OptiPub. Our tracking SDK needs to be installed correctly on all of your digital properties in order for this system to correctly associate your users' information.
InstallationFailure to install the tracking SDK correctly on your websites may lead to incorrect statistics within the reporting tools.
User Privacy
Our system respects the privacy of end users who do not wish to be tracked. We do this by listening and acknowledging the privacy signals that browsers send to our systems:
- Do Not Track — the "DNT" flag a visitor enables in their browser settings.
- Global Privacy Control — the "GPC" opt-out signal broadcast by privacy-focused browsers and extensions.
If either signal is received from a visitor, our system will accept the request and take no action on it. These signals cannot be overridden, so a visitor who broadcasts one is never tracked, even if they accept a consent banner on your website.
Consent Banners
If your website asks visitors for consent before setting cookies, the SDK can wait for that decision before it tracks anything. See Using Our SDK for the consent commands and how to install the tag in consent mode.
